County Commission to Make Decision on Fees
(released
9/5/2007)
By Douglas Lorah
The Dade County Commission will be holding meetings on Thursday, September 6th at 5pm and on Thursday, September 20th at 5pm to discuss and vote on a permit application fee. Currently, there is no fee for photographers and filmmakers to be issued a permit to shoot in Miami Dade County.
As with all municipalities in the state of Florida, there have been budget cuts due to the decrease in tax money. The county film office is projecting to cut 3 jobs as a result.
The question has to be asked if whether a permit application fee will chase off the smaller budget productions from coming to Miami.
If you have an opinion on this issue whether it is for or against a fee, you need to make it a point to show up at these 2 meetings. It is recommended that you get there early (noon) to register to speak before the county commission.
