Screening and Q&A with Francis Ford Coppola
(released 4/26/2007)

The Miami Beach Film Society & Cinematheque will hold a one-time only engagement with filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola on Sunday, May 13 from 7-9pm. Featuring the new documentary CODA: Thirty Years Later shot during the filming of Youth Without Youth, Mr. Coppola's new film.

Thirty years ago, Francis Ford Coppola went into the jungles of the Philippines and came back with the legendary Apocalypse Now and the documentary, Hearts of Darkness. Youth Without Youth is Coppola's first directing foray in a decade. Shot in Romania, the film is slated for release by Sony Pictures Classic in Fall 2007.

CODA: Thirty Years Later is more than a 'making of' documentary. It is a personal exploration of the inspirations and obstacles during Coppola's long career. It is both introspective and illuminating — Coppola shares his thoughts on filmmaking, creativity and the nature of consciousness in this hour-long documentary shot during the making of Youth Without Youth. The film will be followed by a one hour Q&A with Mr. Coppola.

This event will be moderated by Miami Herald Film Critic Rene Rodriguez. The screening and the following Q&A will be held at the Colony Theater at 1040 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
