South Africa's Top Filmmaker Singh At PBIFF
(released 4/6/2007)

The 12th Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival will be paying a special tribute to South Africa on Monday, April 23 with a full day of festivities, including screenings of South African films and a special tribute to one its leading filmmakers, Anant Singh. All four of the films to be featured are Singh films including the first South African film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award as well as the highest grossing South African film of all time. The day will be capped by a South African-themed party at LaCigale in Delray Beach.

The tribute is part of a newly inaugurated "World Showcase of Films," which will feature premieres of independent films from two new countries each year with this year's focus on South Africa and Israel during the eight-day Festival from April 19-26.

The daylong South African event is sponsored by South Africa's 65,000-acre private game reserve, Kwandwe.

The South African Showcase will be screening films at Sunrise Cinemas in Mizner Park from 1:00 pm through 10:00 pm. More information available at www.pbifilmfest.org.
