Catch The Original King Kong
(released 12/14/2005)

In celebration of the big ape's return to the silver screen, Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) will feature the original 1933 classic of King Kong, starring Fay Wray this Friday, December 16 at 10pm at Cinema Paradiso. Admission is free.

"The original King Kong was named one the 100 greatest films of all time by the American Film Institute, and Faye Wray passed away only 2 years ago, so it seems fitting to honor the classic. It's also fun for audiences to see and compare the old and the new," commented Gregory von Hausch, President and CEO of FLIFF.

Both the 2005 and the 1933 versions are about a film crew goes to a tropical island for an exotic location shoot and discovers a colossal giant gorilla who takes a shine to their female blonde star. The characters names remain the same as well. As where the 1976 version (aka King Kong: The Legend Reborn) centered around an expedition in search of petrol and the characters names were altered.

Cinema Paradiso is located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale at 503 SE 6th St, on the south side of the New River, one block East of the Broward County Courthouse. Parking is free at meters and the courthouse parking garage after 6pm on Friday. For more details go to http://www.FLIFF.com or 954-565-FILM (3456).
