Film Florida Organizing Legislative Forums
(released
8/4/2013)
By Douglas Lorah
Film Florida is organizing forums and workshops throughout the state. The reason for these forums is due to the state film incentive's funding being drained earlier than anticipated. Thus, leaving the incentive currently ineffective in its ability to lure film and television production to the area.
The south Florida workshop and forum is Tuesday, August 6th. The workshop has limited seating and is already full.
The forum is 4pm to 6pm at the Miami Dade College North Campus in the Lehman Theater. The address is 11380 NW 27th Avenue in Miami.
From Film Florida:
"The Forum is designed to inform legislators about the needs of the film, television and entertainment industry and recommended approaches. This opportunity will allow Florida legislators to inquire about the state's incentive program and the industry.
This event is designed to reinforce the value of these industries to Florida's economy, as a job creator and tourism inducer and provide compelling documented case studies about the success of Florida's incentive program."
The panelists are Terry Miller (EP of Burn Notice), Barry Gordon (Miami Dade College), Rolando Aedo (Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau), Jack Osterholt (Vice Mayor Miami), David Phelps (AICP), and Juan Delgado (VP at Telemundo).
