Miami Rhapsody is one of many films that opened the Miami International Film Festival over it's 30 year history. The festival has been running a restrospective of all the festival opening films at the Tower Theater to lead up to the festival's March 1, 2013 start date.
The cast of Miami Rhapsody gathered at the Tower Theater on Friday, February 8th before the screening of the film to reflect on their work experience in Miami. The film's director David Frankel, and actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Carla Gugino, and Jeremy Piven posed for pictures, and spoke briefly before the film with great fondness for Frankel's direction, writing, and their fun while filming in Miami 18 years ago.
Miami Rhapsody was a 1995 film. Most recently released work with David Frankel's direction is Hope Springs. Carla Gugino was seen in Fox's sitcom New Girl playing Schmidt's dominating boss Emma in 2012. Sarah Jessica Parker continues to be an active citizen and role model to her children volunteering for food banks, AIDS organizations, and participating in health related causes to further strengthen her community. Jeremy Piven is leading the cast of Mr. Selfridge, a Masterpiece series set to premiere on PBS March 31, 2013.
The reunion of the cast made for a brief and pleasant jaunt down memory lane for both the cast, director, and the audience of fans who came to support the film and the Miami International Film Festival. The screening of Miami Rhapsody was followed by an after party at the Coral Gables Country Club where patrons' contributions went to raise funds for the 30th annual film festival.
