(released
1/27/2013)
By greenroomwire
On Tuesday, January 29, at 6:30 pm at Books & Books (across the street from the Cinema) there will be a panel discussion that will consider how violence enhances or detracts from one's viewing experience; the limits, if any, that should be imposed on representations of violence; and the responsibilities of filmmakers who integrate representations of violence into their work. The panel is co-sponsored by the Coral Gables Art Cinema, FIU's Center for the Humanities in an Urban Environment and Books & Books, to go along with the run of Rust and Bone, at the Cinema. The in-depth discussion will feature FIU's Theater Department Associate Director of External Engagement Phillip M. Church; Filmmaker & Founder of the Borscht Film Festival Lucas Leyva; Director of the Gables Cinema & Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Rosenberg; and FIU's Director of Film Studies Barbara Weitz. The panel discussion is free and open to the public. Books & Books is located at 265 Aragon Ave. Coral Gables, FL 33134.
