As part of their Films at the Library series, the Miami Design Preservation League is presenting On an Island with You starring Esther Williams. The film is free and will be screened twice in the month of September.

In the decade following World War II, the young swimmer (and Olympics hopeful) Esther Williams was featured in a series of films at MGM. These films incorporated spectacular water ballets choreographed by some of Hollywood's best, filmed in a special water tank built specially for her films. Graceful, poised, and funny, Williams became an icon of post-war America.
Paradise for musical-comedy fans! Esther Williams (in a series of swimsuits and sarongs) plays a film star on a tropical location shoot, staying in a fantastic MiMo-style hotel. Xavier Cugat and his band provide the musical accompaniment, while Ricardo Montalban, Peter Lawford, Cyd Charisse, and Jimmy Durante provide the laughs and loves.
