Cut, Scratch, Splice & Spool Workshop at Archive
(released
8/12/2008)
By Douglas Lorah
The Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives is holding an old fashioned workshop. It is called Cut, Scratch, Splice & Spool: The Workshop.
Younger movie audiences probably don't realize that movies were shot on film and had to be cut and spliced for editing. This workshop will give them an opportunity to see how hand editing is done with actual 16mm film.
The workshop is being held Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 10am - 1pm at the Main Auditorium at the Miami-Dade Public Library. It is located at 101 West Flagler Street in Miami. The workshop is limited to teenager and parent or guardian pairs. You must register in advance. The fee per pair is $20.00.
The workshop will be followed on Sunday, August 24 at 1pm with a free screening of their work which also open to the public.
