Optic Nerve X Accepting Submissions

The Museum of Contemporary Art is seeking film and video submissions for the tenth rendition of Optic Nerve, the museum's popular film and video showcase featuring work by emerging South Florida artists and filmmakers. The films will be reviewed by a jury of film and art professionals. Optic Nerve X finalists will be screened at MOCA, located at 770 NE 125th Street in North Miami on Saturday, August 7th, 2008. One of the films will be purchased for the museum’s permanent collection with funds provided by Starbucks Coffee Company.

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions must contain original material and have been made within the last two years. Entries must be on a DVD, no more than 5 minutes long (strictly enforced). Entries are limited to two per person. Each film or video must be accompanied by 1) completed entry and video release forms (available on www.mocanomi.org) or by contacting the museum 2) artist’s resume and bio 3) brief description of work 4) processing fee. All artists will be notified by mail if their work has or has not been selected.

Processing Fee

Non-Refundable. Payable by check or money order to Museum of Contemporary Art
$10 per entry if received by June 5th (Free for MOCA members)
$20 per entry for non-members. ($10 for MOCA members).

Shipping

Submissions must be postmarked no later than June 25, 2008 and sent to Museum of Contemporary Art, Attn: Optic Nerve, 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL, 33161. Only those submissions accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope will be returned.

Early submissions will be accepted from June 5th and the final deadline will be June 25th, 2007. The public screening of the works selected will take place on August 7th, 2008.
