A major motion picture starring John Travolta (Basic, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty) and James Gandolfini (Soprano's) will begin filming in Jacksonville beginning in mid-March, Jacksonville Film & Television Chief Todd Roobin announced.
The film, Lonely Hearts, based on the true-life story of Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck, who were executed for the killings of more than a dozen women in the late 1940s, will begin pre-production in mid-January 2005.
Jacksonville will double for locations in upstate New York where the murder trial took place. Travolta will play Nassau County detective Elmer C. Robinson and Gandolfini will play Travolta's partner in solving the crimes. Writer/director Todd Robinson is the actual grandson of Elmer Robinson. Roobin said the production company will begin working with local businesses and area technicians and will be casting for extras in late-January. The production crew is expected to be in Jacksonville from mid-January through May 2005.
According to the Jacksonville Film Office Hotline, the Casting Director and extras casting has not yet been hired by the production company. Information will be updated on the hotline as it becomes available. The Jacksonville Film Office hotline is 904.630.7247. Interested persons should fax resumes to 904.630.2919. Principal Photography is set for the end of March. Production offices should be open at the end of January.
