Straightaway Wraps on Wild Sunflowers
Straightaway Movies' writer/director Thomas Griffith has completed principal photography on the feature length film Wild Sunflowers.
The movie chronicles the return of a young Florida National Guard soldier to his small poor rural farming community with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and physical wounds received in combat.
With no local VA support to help, he struggles with his mental and physical wounds, while his wife, Molly works in a local farm equipment supply store. Bobby is not capable of holding down a job, and becomes a pain pill addict. Molly tries to secure help for her husband, while working and raising the children on her own. Bobby continues to get worse with continuous bouts of war flash-backs, and a growing addiction that has the family going into debt.
LA based actors Rick Crawford plays Sergeant Bobby Hatcher, actress Gia Franzia as wife Molly Hatcher and Tate Ammons as Congressional Candidate Wesley Van Hoeven. Also headlining are Straightaway Movies veterans Greg Schroeder as Congressman Edward Sutil, Jeanne Holland Griffith who will Executive Produce and plays mother-in-law Joy Hatcher, and Fort Myers based Rick Michaels (Latitude 25 Pictures) who also co-produces and plays the role of Sheriff Tom Moffat.
A summer 2008 South Florida premier is planned.
