Crespo Organizes Commish Tour with Vendors
(released
12/13/2007)
By Douglas Lorah
Within a matter of hours today, Al Crespo has been able to start the organizational process and get committments to have the film commissioners driven around various vendors throughout the metro area.
Cineworks has volunteered a vehicle and driver and has gotten committments from Robert Parente and Graham Winick to do the tour.
If you are a vendor and want to be added to the list of companies on the tour, send an email to Al Crespo.
From the email that started it all, Crespo describes how the idea started.
"...there is growing talk about how we are beginning to loose portions of our infrastructure and manpower base, I was talking this morning with a major vendor who expressed once again his frustration with the lack of coordinated effort on the part of the local film offices to start addressing these problems in a
concerted way.
This led to a discussion - which I've long argued for myself - that our film commissioners often don't talk with the major vendors and business owners before they venture forth on their little junkets, and in turn this all prompted a brain storm.
We need to organize a FAM TOUR FOR THE LOCAL FILM COMMISSIONERS TO GET OUT AND MEET ALL THE LOCAL VENDORS, AND VISIT ALL OF THE VARIOUS CAMERA HOUSES, GRIP & LIGHTING HOUSES, THE LABS AND POST HOUSES, AND THE STUDIOS."
