GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES
(originally released on 12/15/2004)

Sponsored, in part, by a federal grant administered by Workforce Florida, Inc., the series is intended to help ensure Florida's film and entertainment workforce is familiar with the latest technology available to the industry.

"We are committed to growing the Sunshine State's vibrant film and entertainment industry," said Governor Bush. "In today's high-tech economy, a series like this one can be an important part of the continued development of Florida's workforce. Taught by top professionals in their field, these workshops will provide our state's film and entertainment workers with access to the latest technology and innovative training opportunities."

To be launched during the first three days of the Miami International Film Festival and held at the School of Entertainment & Design Technology at the Miami-Dade College - North Campus, the series will offer three separate tracks of study: Creative, Technical and Business.

As part of the sessions, each participant will receive in-depth reference materials and handouts, lunch each day with a film and entertainment production professional keynote address, and student discounts to the Miami International Film Festival. The workshops will culminate in a reception bringing together all participants, trainers and series hosts.

The series will be held February 4-6, and the Governor's Office of Film and Entertainment will host the workshops, in conjunction with the Miami International Film Festival, Miami-Dade College and the University of Miami.
